Did your home lose shingles during the last storm?  Are you worried that your shingles won’t make it through the next storm?

Why Do Roofs Come Apart in Severe Storms?

As we have seen with recent storms and hurricanes, not all shingles and not all roofers are equal. Regardless of the shingles you choose, it’s important that they be properly installed by an expert roofer to keep warranties in effect and provide the protection you deserve for your home. Warranties will vary by shingle and by manufacturer and can vary from 25 to even 50 year shingles. The primary difference is the thickness of the mat, adhesives, asphalt and modifiers added for flexibility and longevity and strength.

There are essentially two key components/barriers that effect the integrity of your roof. First, the shingles themselves, and beneath that the sheathing. The sheathing attaches to the homes rafters and functions as the top layer. In high winds that sheathing may lift by uplifting winds pressure that separates the sheathing from the frame. The expert roofers at Brian Sikes Roofing use only the most proven and tested techniques for securing the sheathing to the frame. This includes the use of thicker exterior plywood, high wind rated metal straps, and 8d ring shank nails which are extremely hard to pull from wood.

Are the Shingles of Your Home Suitable for the Area that you Live in?

When choosing your shingles, it’s important to note that shingles that would be acceptable for more inland construction may not be suited for high wind areas. The experts at Brian Sikes Roofing will assess your homes construction and roof type and recommend the best possible shingle solution for your area and home.

Brian went the extra mile to get us in before our insurance was terminated. His crew were polite and our roof was done as promised in 3 days. Mark addressed and resolved any concerns we had immediately. Found some small metal/nails after completion but very few. Roof looks great. Inspector commented on excellent work. Would definitely recommend.
